Sixth Form Student Nefertiti O’Hene spent her summer before she went to University at a Beijing Law Firm. Nefertiti from Northwood Col-lege, in North London, spent 4 weeks with her friend at Hansong Law Firm in Beijing. Hansong is a busy practice which specialises in small and medium Chinese companies commercial law. Many of the lawyers have law degrees from Western countries and were quick to welcome Nefertiti. The experience was fantastic with the interns asked to com-plete tasks in English, and gave them their first experience of a Chi-nese legal practice.

Nefertiti takes up the story : “ Going to Beijing was an excellent experience which gave us a taste of the international legal profession and developed our communication skills. We lived in a self catering flat in the centre of the city and experienced all the food and culture that the Chinese Capital could offer. As we developed confidence we explored more and more places in this historic and cultural city. We even went to see the Great Wall. Our hosts in the law firm and Sunny from World City Links really looked after us and we felt completely at home during our stay. It was a great way to spend the Summer between sixth form and University, I can really recommend it”

Director of World City Links, Julian Vennis added: “We offer these short term internships as a highly valuable global experience for ambitious young people looking to develop their employability and communication skills and to start to build a global network.”
